Error 5B00 5B01 [ink absorber full] Canon Pixma ip2700 ip2770 ip2772 ip2780 ip2702 Fix Solution

The Error 5B00 5B01 on Canon Pixma ip2700 ip2772 ip2780 ip2702 ip2770 means the ink pad absorber is full. The printer will show LED Blinking in orange: 8 times. Error Warning: The ink pad absorber is full. Error code: 1700.

You don't need to change the ink pad absorber at the first error. You only need to reset the counter using the Canon Service Tool or Canon Resetter Program that you can download at the bottom of this post. 

If your ink pad absorber is full for more than twice, you must clean or change the pad with a new part.

How to fix the error 5B00 Canon Printer

You can clear error 5B00 by yourself, follow the steps as mention below:

1. Before doing the reset method, you need download Canon Service Tool or Canon Resetter Program
2. Enter your printer to Service Mode. 
3. Run service tool program
4. Reset the ink pad absorber
5. Restart printer
6. Printing test page

Enter Printer to Service Mode

If you want to enter service mode on Canon ip2700 ip2772 ip2780 ip2702 ip2770, there is a combination printer button to press. Please follow these steps:

1. Turn off the printer
2. Press and hold the Resume button, then press the power button. don't release both buttons
3. Release the Resume button, and the Power button still holds
4. While holding the Power button, press the Resume button 4(four) times, press and hold the resume button once more, then release the power and the resume button together
5. If the power led indicator not turn into Greenlight, it's mean the printer failed to enter service mode. Repeat the steps from point 1

Now your printer is on Service Mode.

Reset the Printer

To reset ink absorber full (error 5b00, 5b01) on Canon ip2700 ip2772 ip2780 ip2702 ip2770, you can use Canon Service Tool V3400 or V1074.

Use the Canon Service Tool V3400:

1. Extract downloaded file
2. You must be running this resetter tool under Windows XP compatibility mode: 
• Right-click on Service Tool 3400.exe, then choose Properties
• Click the Compatibility tab, then thick on Compatibility mode
• Choose Windows XP, then click the OK button. Now your Service tool under Windows XP compatibility mode
• Right-click on Service Tool 3400.exe, then choose Run as administrator
3. Now let's reset the printer. At the Clear ink counter absorber menu, please select Main, then click the Set button
4. Next, at the Ink Absorber Counter menu, please choose Main, and 0% at the counter value, then click the Set button
5. Follow the instruction, then do a printing test using the tool or printing your document
6. Done

Now the counter status is at 0%, and you can use your printer again.
