How to Scan using Epson ET 2850?

There is various method to scanning with Epson ET 2850, you can scan document using printer control panel or using printer software (Epson Apps). You can start scan your paper document and then saving into digital file document like PDF or image.

After placing the document on printer scanner, you can start scanning using one of this method:

Using the control panel buttons on your printer, you may scan an image to your computer.

Your printer will choose default scan settings for you, but you may examine or adjust them as needed. Using the computer's Event Manager program, you can change the default scan settings.
  1. Verify that the printer software has been installed and joined your computer or network.
  2. Place your document on the printer for scanning
  3. Press the home button, if necessary.
  4. Press the left or right arrow button to select Scan and press the OK button.

  5. Press the left or right arrow button to select a scan option and press the OK button.
    • Preview on Computer previews the scanned image on a computer before saving
    • To Computer (JPEG) saves your scan as a JPEG file on your computer or as an image capture on a Mac.
    • To Computer (PDF) saves your scan as a PDF file on your computer or as an image capture on a Mac.
  6. Select the destination computer from the list if you are scanning to a network computer.
    • Select USB Connection if your product is directly connected to your computer through a USB connection.
    • Press Start button to start Scanning

    Scanning a Document in Epson ScanSmart‌

    Epson ScanSmart allows you to scan and examine documents and photographs.
      1. Load your original into the product.
      2. Open Epson ScanSmart on your computer.

      3. Select SCAN. The document has been scanned. When the scanning is finished, you'll see window like this:

      4. The scanned images can be reviewed, edited, or reordered as follows:
        • Select + Scan to scan more originals.
        • Select Delete to delete selected scanned images.
        • Select Rotate Right to rotate each scanned image.
        • Select Crop to crop the selected image.
        • Control-click two images, select Stitch Images, and follow the on-screen instructions to combine them into a single image.
      5. If Photo Mode is identified automatically, the following enhancing options are available:
        • Auto Color Enhancement: automatically adjusts the brightness, contrast, and saturation of your photos
        • Restore Faded Colors: restores the colors in faded photos automatically
        • Remove Red Eye: automatically removes the red-eye effect from your photos
        • Auto Cropping: automatically crops the scanned image edges
      6. When you finish reviewing and editing the scanned images, click Next.
      7. Select option to save, send or print the scanned images.

      Saving Scanned Documents as a Searchable PDF Using Epson Scan 2‌

      You may scan a document and save the text as a searchable PDF file. Text is detected using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in a searchable PDF and then inserted in the scanned original.
        1. Load your original in the product for scanning.
        2. Start Epson Scan 2.
        3. Select your scan settings.
        4. Click Preview and adjust the area you want to scan, if necessary.
        5. Select Searchable PDF as the Image Format setting.
        6. Select Options from the Image Format list.
        7. Select any of the options on the General tab.
        8. Select the Text tab.
        9. Make sure the language used in the document text is selected as the Text Language setting.
        10. Select the Security tab if you want to add a password to the PDF or protect printing or editing properties.
        11. Click OK.
        12. Confirm the File Name setting and select a Folder setting for your document.
        13. Click Scan
        The scanned image is saved as a searchable PDF.
